I never saw Byleven but based on #'s I think he should be in, but Jim Kaat's not in either so...

Alomar was a hell of a player, hopefully he gets in next year.

Congrats to Dawson.....I hope he wears the Expos cap

Alomar will be in next year....a one year penalty for behavior is my belief in why he felt short.

Blyleven missed by five votes and...

Five voters sent in blank ballots this year..he has two more chances (i believe) and I think he will get in before his time is up.

If I were a voter, my ballot would have been blank this year too.

Andre Dawson

I think he made an unfortunate portmanteau word, "copulate," maybe an amalgam of "copy" and "emulate"?

That's their right and the way they should vote if they feel that way.

I personally admire that, but I would have a problem with their ballot not being sent in.

wanna know what's sickening? david segui got a vote and mark mcgwire will never get in just because he was more successful with his steroid usage than the rest of the monkeys who juiced in that era.

character shouldn't count for anything in the hall...contribution to the sport is what counts. I'd almost argue that Jose "lips" Canseco should be in the HOF based on his numbers.

...but yeah, let's continue to pretend we're all better than steroid users who crushed baseballs and helped bring interest back into the game!

as long as this retarded stigma is attached to steroid users from people who have NO CLUE about steroid usage, the HOF will be incomplete...these writers are a joke!

I confess, it was me. I voted for David Segui. Great hitters should not live in glass bodies.

Fred McGriff was 7 homeruns away from being either

A) The only player with 500 homeruns not in the hall (I suspect McGwire, Sosa, and Bonds will get in)

B) The player that proves the 500 rule.

McGwire and Sosa belong in the Hall. They cheated, but they also made baseball interesting in an era when it was not.

szekely - January 7, 2010 05:05 PM (GMT)
I want Sosa in the Hall. We need more modern era white guys.

I misspoke on this and thought it was worth correcting.

Not sending in your ballot doesn't count against anyone. While sending in your ballot blank and signed, causes everyone an 0-1, or 0-5 if you count the five ballots that were returnd, thus lowering their chances of eligibility.

I believe your better off not voting if you don't think anyone deserves induction, but i'm against sending in a blank ballot thus hurting peoples chances.

Hopefully i didn't get it backwards this time :) Sorry for the confusion; if any.

That's a good point. I don't know how the voting system works.

My main point was that I don't see anybody on that long list who deserves HOF induction; that includes Andre Dawson.
