That is the one baseball related thing that I hope my son never gets into. As I look back on my childhood, I wish I had spent all of the time organizing, collecting, and trading baseball cards on something else... anything else.
I don't see the harm in collecting baseball cards.
It's one of those things that brought me closer to the game from a very young age, and it taught me a lot about the players and statistics.
I think the thing people don't like about baseball card collecting is the mass production and commercialization of it. Probably also the false promise that those things are actually worth any money.
