Title: The Guns of Navarone
Description: The Pea Shooters of Baltimore
szekely - March 10, 2010 04:39 PM (GMT)
Hi all. My last post on the Pitchers and Catchers Report thread met with no responses, unlike the rest of the thread which had some of the more scintillating dialogue we have seen in a long time.
So now, game fans, we have a new game.
Use any book or movie title, or art piece and link it to the Orioles.
Any kind of link to the Os is OK, whether serious, facetious, or something else.
Jack:
A personal challenge to you. Not as good as Twisted Titles, but let's see what you can do.
Everybody: Jump in.
Yes, I anticipate a slow day here at the boutique.

How the West Was Won - A family saga covering several decades of Westward expansion in the nineteenth century
How the East Was Lost - A baseball saga covering over a decade of poor drafting, horrible free agent signings, and the general nonperformance of the Baltimore Orioles

You can't keep a good man down, but will the Orioles rise again?
Ed: That is a stretch, pardon any pun, but anything to keep the thread alive. . . .

FantOsia: Mickey Mouse cuts Brian Matusz in half, and suddenly the Orioles have an entire staff full of potential left-handed aces.

FrankenstOn: Andy MacPhail plays a mad scientist who, in an effort to create the perfect Orioles pitcher, attempts to graft Jimmy Key's head and Mike Mussina's glove arm onto Daniel Cabrera's body.

Sluggo: All he needs to add to that physical mix is the mind of a Clemons or B Gibson. You'd have a HOF pitcher.
Unfortunately, lately, the grafting of the mind into the matter met with poor results. Q: "Whose brain did you use?"
A: "Abby somebody. Abby Normal."
Ah, we now have two allusions to comedic geniuses, Mel Brooks and Monty Python.
For a book title and Os reference combo, in dialogue form, how about:
Andy MacPHail: We are operating now by The Book of Virtues.
Orioles fans: Sure, and we are used to The Winter[s] of our Discontent.
