Title: Boog Powell sighting in the wilds of Kent Island
Description: …made my day

Rose and I went to the Safeway on Kent Island on our way home from Annapolis and as we approached the entrance I saw Boog leaving the store.
I yelled out to the entire parking lot, "Hey, that fat old guy looks just like Boog Powell." He turned and waved to me. I guess he must have arthritis or something because he was only able to extend one finger…
Just kidding. I did see him leave the store and I did say to him, "That guy looks just like Boog Powell." He smiled, said hello and waved. When I got it the store it dawned on me that I had on a 1966 replica O's hat and it would have been way cool to have had him sign the bill for me. Oh well maybe next time.

He signed my favorite hat on the underside of the brim a couple of years ago, and the signature has been completely erased by sweat. So much for "permanent" Sharpies.

Guess you just lost your chance to go over to his house for dinner, too! :D
Cool story.

My dad has I think a calendar from the 60's that every time he brought to Camden Yards Boog wasn't there to sign it. When he didn't bring it, he was there. If I remember correctly, my dad admitted Boog isn't even in the calendar.

I, too, have Boog's (and Bumbry's) autographs: I got Boog's signature and a picture with him in front of his BBQ stand at Camden Yards; I got Bee's signature at a Liberty vs. Virginia Tech baseball game in Lynchburg, VA.
I once had Palmer's autograph, but I somehow lost it during my teenage years.

My Boog Powell autograph is on an oil cloth Orioles pennant I made when I was 12 years old. Boog and Jackie Brandt were headed toward the bus outside Metropolitan Stadium after a game with the Twins in Bloomington, MN. They signed the thing. So did 20 other guys.
Brooks signed it and then spent five minutes talking to me and held up the bus departure by doing so. He was the last man on. I don't think they would have left without him, somehow.
