Title: Such a dreary season for the O's
Description: …maybe some promotions would help
Skipjack - June 17, 2010 01:29 PM (GMT)
A Garret Atkins bobble-head night
A troupe of mimes miming the National Anthem
A dunk Jim Palmer booth on Eutaw Street
Any other ideas?
Bark - June 17, 2010 02:06 PM (GMT)
Free copies of the newly renamed Orioles program "The Loss Column"
Orioles wives play in place of their husbands day
The Orioles fan of the game gets to manage the team the next day
1/2 priced drink and food item of the game (Heineken + Nachos)
Paper bag night to be used to cover your head
Free score cards that already have zeroes printed next to Orioles runs scored.

How about "Be the Birds Day" as 25 random fans of all ages and genders are selected to be the active roster for that game. Couldn't do any worse, right?
PUMA
Career200 - June 21, 2010 02:30 PM (GMT)
How about "I Drink to Forget Night" with all fans in attendance aged 5 and over receiving 750 ml of Jack No. 7 and a carton of Lucky Strikes? In a manner that is somehow fitting, matches will not be distributed at the gate but sold at one unmarked concession stand chosen at random on each level for only $9.50 per matchbook.
For this night only, "Thank God I'm a Country Boy" will be replaced by "Folsom Prison Blues" during the 7th inning stretch.

How about a turn back the clock night where the Orioles and their opponent will wear throwback uniforms modeled after opening day 1998, the first day of the Orioles streak of losing seasons?

They could also turn back the ticket prices to that year or give 1/2 off tickets to anyone who hasn't been alive long enough to see a winning season.

How about "It Never Happened" night? They could field the entire 1997 team, with Davey Johnson at the helm, just like none of this losing ever happened.
HotTubMan - June 24, 2010 07:28 PM (GMT)
Jeffrey Maier night at the Yard....
Everyone gets one swing at em..

i would make sure to be in the stands for that! I'd wear my Marv Foley uniform. He was a base coach/bullpen coach/waterboy at some point in that era.

guys, i don't know about any of you but this season has been so disappointing that i haven't been able to bring myself to get excited about anything orioles related.
ty wigginton is our offensive Juggernaut....that's got fail written all over it.
when exactly are our prospects going to develop?
hindsight is 20/20, but with this type of output, i'd have much rather seen josh bell and co. than tejada/atkins/wigginton.
i can't wait for markakis, jones, and roberts to demand a trade!

Some of them got hurt. Some never made it long enough to get hurt. The ones that did, got hurt . Some retired, some were released. Some went on to do great things, maybe, non-baseball related, of course, but great none-the-less, if they did, great things that is. Might even buy Great Value Brands at Walmart. Do they have Great Value shoes? Have to consult with CJ to see if Cust would know.

May 11, 2010 - 6:19 p.m. Hayden Penn has been officially placed on the Triple-A Indianapolis roster. Fantasy spin: Penn was getting stretched out as a starting pitcher in extended spring training. He's scheduled to start on Tuesday night. Source: MLBlogs.com
April 20, 2010 - 7:24 p.m. The Pirates have sent Hayden Penn to extended spring training in Florida. Fantasy spin: It's a minor surprise, as Penn was scheduled to report to Triple-A Indianapolis. "Now that he's back to being a prospect with us, we want to develop him as a starter," said Pirates general manager Neal Huntington. "In talking through it with Hayden, we felt this was best." It will likely take him a few weeks in order to be properly stretched out. Source: MLBlogs.com
April 19, 2010 - 1:34 p.m. Hayden Penn has accepted an assignment to Triple-A Indianapolis. Fantasy spin: Penn was designated for assignment last week after allowing eight runs in 2 1/3 innings at the major league level. He'll try to work on some things in the minors with the hope of rejoining the Bucs mid-summer. |
Here is his numbers for the numb-ber skulls

They don't tell half as much as the fact that he is with Pittsburgh's farm club.
