Title: Bell to Make Debut Tonight
Jay - July 1, 2010 09:27 PM (GMT)
I read earlier the birds have recalled Josh Bell and he's batting 7th and starting at 3B. Don't know if that means there's a pending move but some rumors on Philly radio were the Phillies are looking at Tejada with Chase Utley out for a couple months.

Sorry to see Tejada go if this is true. He's someone I can
easily root for. Bell, though promising, has hardly forced his way to the majors as he ought to have.

Stanhouse:
Like you, I like Tejada. He has been effective all year. If Bell had a better minor league run, we'd have been looking forward to seeing him get the call.
Who would we get in exchange for Miggy? I know nothing about the Phillies system. I'd take Jimmy Rollins straight up (right) or even Jayson Werth (the Os drafted him so he could "come home"). THey'd be crazy....

As y'all know, we got Bell in the Sherrill trade.
I was watching the Giants -- Dodgers game a couple nights ago. LA called in Sherrill, who has not had a good year. He threw some of the filthiest stuff I have ever seen on a TV broadcast. G-Money got Huff to K, with at least two pitches just unbelievably active.
I can't remember seeing too many pitchers throwing like that, though Mariano Rivera had that type of movement.
We have to hope Bell at least matches his Norfolk numbers, which are decent but not overwhelming.

I don't mind swapping Tejada now. Philles, don't think so. Who Ibanez, Werth, maybe get Castro or Newman back? pass... I imagine the Phillies would be after Wiggy b4 Miggy, though Wiggy might be too pricey for an 8-week gig.
Miggy's value is up right now and would be a great acquisition for a contender not looking to spend too much. The O's should take advantage of that.
My favorite target is Garrett Jones, but it would take more than Tejada. I like Theriot, Aviles and Callaspo. Though the Cubbies, Pirates, and Royals are not contenders.

The Phillies farm system is pretty barron after the Lee & Halladay trades. Domonic Brown is their top prospect (he's top 20 in baseball), he's at AAA, but any other real prospects the Phillies have are at A/low A.
I like Tejada and was happy to see him come back, but if he can get dealt for some decent prospects, I'd be all for it.

I doubt Tejada would bring him over, but Tejada and somebody might.
